Smells Like Rain pastel

On a county road. I painted as autumn clouds quickly rolled in. I crouched under the tailgate to stay dry as I finished the painting. It was a special day for painting outdoors. Smelling the rain before it came reminded me of a story of a boy who’d had a near-death experience. He and his mom were at a baseball game as rain approached and ozone scented the air. “That is what He smells like,” said the boy. His mom asked, “Who?” and the child answered, “God.”
