Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum hangs original Lindy Cook Severns pastels , varnished watercolors and oils.

Former Director of Art of the American West for Heritage Auction Gallery, author Michael Duty wrote about the artist he mentored: "Lindy has an amazing ability to capture both the bold colors and dramatic formations of the far West Texas landscape, but also the subtle variations in light and shading...  she can skillfully present the grandest of vistas, but she also equally masters the most delicate details of sand, rock, and grass. She is particularly adept at painting the western sky in all of its drama and color. When I look at Lindy’s work, I feel an immediate kinship with her vision and love of the western landscape."

Lindy Cook Severns paints authentic southwest landscapes, skyscapes, wildlife and nature in soft pastels, varnished watercolors and in traditional oils. Her dramatic, sweeping skyscapes are nationally acclaimed.

The native Texan's vibrant landscape paintings, fresh, yet intricately and accurately detailed, document the essence of wilderness before civilization forever alters it. Her close connection with Big Bend country and the Davis Mountains of Far West Texas, as well as the Texas canyonlands, Central Texas and the Rockies is apparent no matter what medium she uses to express vast horizons and wild, sweeping landscapes.

For two decades, Lindy copiloted a corporate jet for husband Jim, who insists flying gave the artist her affinity for painting skies. The couple's hikes and drives provide other painting subjects.

Painting the energy and motion of a subject is as important to Lindy as accurate drawing. In her skyscapes, you sense the winds aloft. You feel, as much as see grass waving in her landscapes' impressionistic foregrounds. Always, she paints what she knows, and that shows in her work.
