Hockley County Farm original watercolor

I’ve driven by this old farmstead near Ropesville, Texas many times over the years. When I pass places like this, I’m always interested to know the stories that could be told by the family that first established their home there. I imagine there were happy times, sad times, Thanksgiving dinners, blessed Christmas mornings, long days of hard work, bumper cotton crops and hail outs.

This particular day a sand storm preceded a building thunderstorm. With “Hockley County Farm” I’ve tried to capture the feeling and the stories that so many rural as well as city- dwelling west Texas residents know so well.
