Texas Slickfork ink study

  • Like many people, I have always been fascinated by the lives, stock, land, trappings and tack of the working cowboy. My earliest memory of “drawing and coloring” was of horses and saddles.

“Texas Slickfork” depicts the quintessential Texas saddle from the golden age of cattle drives in the 1880’s. Many a young drover looking for adventure and wealth went “up the trail” on a skinny cow pony saddled with a Texas slickfork. This is a pen and ink study that I did for a watercolor of the same subject.
